It's made with an mix of two lentils flavored with aromatics like ginger, garlic and onion and warm Indian spices. Lentils/Dals - you will need a combination of split black gram lentils (maah ki daal) with the skin on and split Bengal gram lentils (yellow lentils/choley or chane ki daal).
The amount of water added to the dal depends on how thick or watery you want the dal to be. On average, add 3 cups of water while cooking 1 cup of dal.
Mix dal is an excellent source of protein for vegetarian people. It has high folate content and its high fiber presence helps in lowering cholesterol levels. Mix Dal's consumption is excellent for good digestive health.
