FAQ

Tomato bath is a one pot delicious rice dish made with short grain rice, tomatoes, coconut, spices and herbs. This tomato bath tastes exactly the same as served in Karnataka restaurants and hotels.
The main ingredient in any upma recipe is rava. Also called 'suji' or 'sooji' in Hindi and 'cream of wheat' or 'semolina' in English, it is simply granulated wheat. Thus this breakfast food is known as Suji ka Upma in North India.
It was during periods of rice shortage, most prominently during World War Two, that the British pushed and popularised wheat, particularly semolina (the cracked endosperm of wheat), encouraging South Indians to treat it like rice. Semolina was very affordable and quickly became a kitchen staple all over India.
Upma is typically made by first lightly dry roasting semolina (called rava or sooji in India). The semolina is then taken off the fire and kept aside while spices, lentils, onion, ginger, etc are sautéed in oil or ghee. The semolina is then added back to the pan and mixed thoroughly.
In the case of skunk spray, when this happens, the smell of tomato juice is easily detected and it appears that the skunk odor is gone. While bathing an animal with tomato juice might wash off some of the chemical components causing the odor, it does nothing to chemically alter or neutralize the odor.
