Understanding the basics of using coconut milk powder. Mix the powder with some warm water and stir well. The amount of water you use will determine the consistency. Use more for coconut milk and less for coconut cream. If you're making up a larger amount, you may want to use a blender.
Coconut Milk Powder. It has all of the flavor of coconut milk, except it's a powder. It can be mixed with water to make as little or as much coconut milk as you need, and as thin or thick as you like. It generally comes in space-saving packets or sometimes in cans (in which case BPA might be an issue).
You can literally grab and go some vegan coconut milk powder for all recipes which call for canned coconut milk. You just mix it up according to the instructions and hey presto, ready to use coconut milk. It's perfect for everything from smoothies to curries.
To dehydrate coconut milk in a dehydrator, start by pouring the coconut milk onto the solid dehydrator sheets or trays. Set the dehydrator to a low temperature, around 130°F (54°C), and allow the coconut milk to dehydrate for 8-12 hours, or until it becomes completely dry and crumbly.
Sometimes I add water and mix it into actual milk to add a quarter or half cup as needed, depending on the recipe. Sometimes I just sprinkle it as a powder—I love a dash stirred in my morning oatmeal, with cinnamon and cardamom. A tablespoon in the curry, two in the rice I might make for dinner.
