Fermenting Dosa Batter. Cover the bowl loosely and ferment it in a warm place until the batter rises and turns light & bubbly. It may take anywhere from 6 to 18 hours depending on the temperature. If you live in a warm region, you can leave the batter bowl on the counter overnight.
