Pronounced go-an (as opposed to “groan” without the “r”!), it's an aromatic curry with a blend of spices, garlic, ginger and onion along with fresh tomato and coconut.
Solkadhi is made from kokum agal(juice of garcinia indica) with black salt,chilly etc added. It is very refreshing and also digestive. It is taken especially after non veg food.
My mom's recipe is a unique one and is much loved in my family and I couldn't resist sharing it with you. Coconut milk does reduce some of the tart flavor of kokum, but not too much. My Mom's solkadhi recipe is a nice blend of mildly sweet coconut milk, sour kokum and tempered Indian spices.
