Wondering what is boondi? Boondi are tiny fried gram flour balls. They are round, spherical and hence the name boondi – derived from the Hindi word “boond”which means water droplets.
Boondi ladoo, or laddu, is a dessert that is very popular in Pakistan and India. It's essentially made out of small fried droplets of a gram flour batter. This is the boondi. These are then soaked in a syrup and then formed into balls.
The main difference is that boondi laddu has big-sized boondi whereas motichoor laddu has smaller ones. A sieve with perforations of large diameter is used to make boondi laddu.
If the boondi has gone bad, the smell of rancid oil will definitely make you toss the boondi out. Boondi Raita is a very scrumptious recipe and you must give it a try. These crispy balls made with besan batter are added to creamy yogurt with some spices.
