It often consists of vegetables such as potatoes and onions. It is then coated in seasoned gram flour batter and deep fried. The pakora is known also under other spellings including pikora, pakoda, pakodi and regional names such as bhaji, bhajiya, bora, ponako, and chop.
Slice them thin or medium thick using knife or a slicer. Keep it immersed in water until use. Heat oil in kadai side by side. Take sliced vazhakkai out from water, drain the water as much as you can, dip and coat the vazhakkai and drop carefully in hot oil.
Fritters. In India we usually dip thinly sliced vegetable in besan batter( gram flour) and deep fry them, and call them bhajiyas. Abroad, a mixture of flour and/or eggs in sugar/salt is used as batter. The fruit or vegetable is dipped in this batter and fried… this is called fritters.
